EOM (Electrical Contractors) Ltd, a leading provider of electrical, gas, plumbing and general maintenance services in mid Wales, is celebrating becoming a finalist in the Business-Education Partnership category of the 2026 Powys Business Awards.
EOM is an independent trading company based in Newtown and is a subsidiary of the Barcud group. They offer a wide range of services and provide repairs and maintenance services to both the public sector and private households.
No stranger to success in the Powys Business Awards, EOM were finalists in 2025, in 2024 they won the People Development category and in 2023 they won the Small Business Growth category.
The Business-Education Partnership Award recognises best practices and collaboration between an employer and an educational establishment.

EOM Electrical Contractors Ltd (EOM) was established in 1995 by a group of mid Wales electricians and today employs 44 members of staff. It is committed to the safety and development of its staff and is currently offering all members of staff the opportunity to receive customised training to advance their career in line with their personal aspirations and aligned with the business plan.
Furthermore, EOM is committed to developing individuals through the apprentice route. It has established close links with NPTC College and offers work experience opportunities to local schools. EOM currently has six apprentices within the electrical, plumbing and carpentry disciplines at various stages within their journey and continues to be a keen advocate of the apprenticeship process.
Twenty-eight businesses and organisations have been shortlisted for this year’s coveted Powys Business Awards. Finalists in the 10 categories were announced recently by awards organiser, Mid Wales Manufacturing Group (MWMG), who said the judges had faced a difficult task due to the high number of entries. The winners will be announced at the awards dinner being held in Brecon, on Friday, 23 October 2026.
