Barcud is proud to announce that its subsidiary company, The Care Society, has been selected as a recipient of the TotalEnergies Gas & Power Social Value Fund, securing a £5,000 grant to support an innovative outdoor space transformation between its two Aberystwyth-based services: Jasper House and The Albion.
This funding has been made possible through the support of TotalEnergies Gas & Power, in partnership with the Welsh Government and Crown Commercial Services.
This funding recognises the vital work The Care Society delivers through its Housing First for Youth initiative, which supports young people aged 16–25 facing complex challenges including trauma, homelessness, and mental health or substance use issues. The initiative helps these individuals build stability through secure accommodation, life skills development, and long-term personal support.
TotalEnergies Gas & Power’s CSR Committee praised the project’s impact, with one member noting: “This is massively important to help disadvantaged youths get help and support; love what they are doing.” Another highlighted its focus on “providing essentials and benefiting those who most need these services.”
The awarded grant will support the creation of a welcoming, shared outdoor space featuring:
• New seating and social areas
• A table-tennis table and basketball hoop
• Enhanced recycling and refuse facilities
• A garden makeover with flowers, fruits, vegetables, and herbs
Guy Evans, Executive Director at the Care Society said “We are delighted to have been awarded this funding. These improvements are designed to encourage connection, wellbeing, and community integration – fostering positive relationships not only between residents and staff but with the wider community. The anticipated outcomes include improved mental and physical health, increased self-esteem and participation, and a reduction in anti-social behaviour.”
The Care Society remains committed to delivering long-term social value and meaningful change through compassionate, community-based support across Ceredigion.
